IMPORTANT NOTICE: BSN medical Transition Set for February 6th, 2006

To all BSN Customers:

Four years ago our businesses separated into two distinct divisions each focusing on its own core competencies.  At that time, Smith & Nephew entered into a 50/50 joint venture agreement with Beiersdorf thus forming BSN medical.  Strategically, it was determined that BSN medical would focus on traditional wound care and casting and bandaging, while Smith & Nephew Wound Management's focus would be the advanced wound care portfolio.

In August this year, we announced that BSN medical would operate autonomously and separately from Smith & Nephew starting at the beginning of 2006.  Effective February 6th, 2006, BSN medical will operate in Canada as a separate business with its own infrastructure for sales, marketing, distribution and all other operational support.
